Apex is partnering with a AAA Game studio in Redmond to hire a Data Scientist. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in office a week in Redmond. Pay: $80-$90/hr DOE Typical Day in the Role

  • Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is a data science team supporting a AAA Game studio. They focus on video game data science, particularly in marketing analytics, aiming to improve player retention, engagement, and highlight additional content for purchase.
  • Key projects: This role will contribute to exploring and profiling data sources, creating proof of concept data tables, self-serve reporting primarily in Power BI, and analyzing A/B tests

Candidate Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 5 overall years of experience in the field
  • Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain:
    • Direct marketing analytics experience, which is crucial as many data scientists have analytics experience but not specifically in marketing.
    • Demonstrated skills in data profiling, investigation, and table creation, as some data scientists prefer only to do analysis without engaging in upstream data investigation.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience 1. Minimum 5 years experience in data analytics, including data profiling, table creation and marketing analytics. 2. Minimum 5 years experience with SQL, bonus if familiar with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer. 3. Minimum 3 years experience with dashboarding tools, Power BI preferred. We are looking for a Data Scientist with a drive to achieve high impact, high quality results to join the Player Data and Insights team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating visualizations and insights that inform our Player Lifecycle Marketing strategy. You will partner with marketing and engineering teams to ensure a robust pipeline from database to reporting for campaigns. With your clear, automated visualizations, the studio will understand the impact of marketing A/B tests and evergreen campaigns. Your insightful analysis will uncover opportunities and key drivers of monetization, engagement, and retention. Responsibilities Perform data exploration, profiling and proof-of-concept table creation in order to assist engineering partners in building and improving the production data environment. Maintain and improve dashboards in Power BI that enable stakeholders to understand the impact of specific campaigns as well as the broader Player Life Cycle marketing efforts. Provide analysis giving recommendations on how to best optimize campaigns for player engagement, retention and post-sales monetization. Conduct A/B test analysis to identify statistically significant impact from campaigns and synthesize the results into recommendations for stakeholders. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the why behind the requests and how to best measure success.
