Section Grower 3 (Senior Grower)

T&L has just completed the strongest spring season in our 35-year history. We are growing and seeking passionate plant enthusiasts to join our team!

T&L Nursery, Inc. is located 30 miles east of Seattle, in the Sammamish Valley, between Redmond and Woodinville. For over 35 years we have taken pride in producing the highest quality container plants for Garden Centers and landscapers in the Pacific Northwest. T&L grows approximately 4 million plants per year of over 2500 varieties on our 40-acre property, making us one of the most diverse growers in the region. Though successful, we are still a small, privately-owned business with a focus on company culture.

We are looking for another experienced individual to become a key part of our growing team that is 10+ strong and counting. Must have knowledge of IPM, environmental controls, pest identification, and plant care, along with experience in fertility and water management.

Prior experience is essential for this role and unsuitable applicants will not be acknowledged.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ownership of your assigned greenhouse and field growing areas, keeping them clean, tidy, and weed-free. Daily monitoring of climate control equipment functionality to maintain optimum growing environment.

· Excellent Water Management -- work closely with Grower Supervisor and Head Grower to manage a diverse crop profile with a variety of water needs. Ability to successfully adjust watering regimes to combat disease pressure or hit scheduled ready dates.

· Monitor fertility of your crops, interpreting soil sample results and making corrective applications when needed. Comprehension of macro- and micro-nutrients and their unique role in plant development and plant quality.

· Scout for pests and diseases and participate in our Integrated Pest Management program. Ability to identify a wide range of pests and diseases at earliest stages of infection for optimal success. Evaluate efficacy of treatments and collaborate with IPM team for needed adjustments.

· Proactively manage plant maintenance tasks in assigned areas -- spacing, pinching, pruning, sorting, condensing, etc. Focus on hitting sales windows, overall plant quality, and efficiency.

· Active, supportive, and respectful member of the growing team -- helping out with a wide array of group tasks and serving as a good example for junior growers.

· Proper maintenance and basic troubleshooting of irrigation systems (boom, sprinkler, drip). Interacting with facilities team for larger issues and irrigation system upgrades.

· Computer record keeping -- Access databases, Microsoft Office Suite, Argus Climate Control Software.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Associate or Bachelor degree in Horticulture or related field and demonstrated professional experience. Highly Experienced Growers will be considered regardless of educational background.

· Extensive plant knowledge of perennial and annual crops.

· Passion for growing plants in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus

· Analytical and inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions or offer new ideas.

· Organized, self-motivated, good time management.

· Supportive Team Player

· Private Pesticide Applicator's license or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

· Desire and willingness to use technology to support job performance.
