We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to help drive innovation and excellence. As an engineering manager on the team, you will improve services by leveraging some of the latest innovations in Microsoft software and Azure hardware. This is a dynamic role that involves both technical knowledge and collaborative skills to contribute to the modernization and enhancement of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's cloud services.
This Hybrid Position is located at our Microsoft office in Redmond, Washington . Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.

Responsibilities
Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance.
Collaborate across partner teams in Microsoft.
Lead and grow a team of high performing engineers.
Mentor, coach, hire, retain and grow top talent.

Taking part in code reviews, both as a reviewer and a reviewee, to ensure the quality of the software and promote best practices within the team.
Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.
Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a focus on application quality, performance, and security.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
Collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years people management experience of a software team
6+ years industry experience on large scale system architecture, design, development, testing and release of full product lifecycle
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Project Management Experience
Experience in Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps for Project Tracking or Source Control Systems
Experience with automated build systems & compilers
Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
