As a Principal Software Engineer , you will utilize your extensive experience in building large-scale AI services, fine-tuning AI models, and conducting A/B testing to enhance AI skills and deliver unparalleled AI experiences on Windows devices. Responsibilities

  • Model Fine-Tuning:  Fine-tune AI models to improve accuracy, efficiency, and performance, ensuring they meet the high standards of our user base.

  • A/B Testing:  Conduct A/B testing to evaluate the effectiveness of AI models and services, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.

  • Performance Optimization:  Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring AI services run smoothly and efficiently on various Windows devices.

  • Collaboration:  Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, UX designers, and product managers, to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into Windows.

  • Innovation:  Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies, and apply these insights to drive innovation within the team.

  • Code Quality:  Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.

  • Mentorship:  Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative development environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years software engineering experience with a focus on AI/ML and coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in the following technical tools and skills: AI and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.), large-scale distributed systems and cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP), and data processing and analysis tools (SQL, Hadoop, Spark).

  • Experience building and deploying large-scale AI services, fine-tuning AI models for performance and accuracy, and A/B testing and statistical analysis.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision.

  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning and deep learning techniques.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
