The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and develop ideas for new products and systems. This role involves creating test prototypes and overseeing manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Research and draft blueprints, engineering plans, and graphics.
Develop and test prototypes for new products and systems.
Identify solutions to improve production efficiency.
Use design software to develop models and drawings of new products.
Assess prototypes to determine issues or risks.
Supervise the process of manufacturing designs.
Essential Skills
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Team player and detail-oriented.
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Previous experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
Bachelor's degree in engineering.
3+ years of experience in building hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics, or a similar field.
Experience with 3D modeling software (Siemens NX preferred. Solidworks, Creo, or similar allowed).
Experience with FPC/PCB integration.
Experience in consumer electronics.
Experience with prototyping including 3D printing, sensors, wearables.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of Camera integration/Optics.
Hands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid Injection Molding.
Experience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
