Amazon Lab Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Lab Engineer will be a member of the Avionics team, supporting design engineers in the build, troubleshoot, repair and test execution for various electrical functions of high-performance communication systems. He will be working on PCBA that integrate power regulators, analog sensors, actuators controllers, and other electronic circuits for monitoring spacecraft performance. They will be expected to support board bring-up, executing test plans and board level reworks, as well as avionics systems integration and system level testing.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

• Rework PCBAs, build and test harnesses.

• Support board bring-up and running electrical checkout tests on new PCB assemblies

• Support avionics systems integration.

• Assemble electrical and optomechanical avionics systems.

• Provide test feedback to teams to improve quality performance through all phases of data collection

• Work with design and test engineers assisting with prototype builds

• Maintain calibration of test equipment and test fixtures

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with rework/modification of PCBA's, cable harness fabrication, and assembly/test of prototype electronic hardware for aerospace, consumer, automotive, or networking infrastructure.

• 5+ years of experience with ESD and safe handling protocols for sensitive electronic hardware.

• 3+ years of experience with common electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc).

• 3+ years of assembly experience using precision pneumatic tools, power tools, and hand tools (torque wrenches, calipers, crimpers/positioners)

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in related field.

• Experience managing external partners for PCB manufacturing.

• Proven track record of delivering results on time.

• Experience in development of space based systems. - Experience working in aerospace manufacturing.

• Ability to Interrupt electrical schematics and build from drawings or lightweight documentation.

• Well-developed communication skills with the ability to review and develop written instructions; document work performed, and follow up with engineers and management as required.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
