IPM Coordinator

T&L has just completed the strongest spring season in our 35-year history. We are growing and seeking passionate plant enthusiasts to join our team!

T&L Nursery, Inc. is located 30 miles east of Seattle, in the Sammamish Valley, between Redmond and Woodinville. For over 35 years we have taken pride in producing the highest quality container plants for Garden Centers and landscapers in the Pacific Northwest. T&L grows approximately 4 million plants per year of over 2500 varieties on our 40-acre property, making us one of the most diverse growers in the region. Though successful, we are still a small, privately-owned business with a focus on company culture.

We are looking for an experienced individual to lead our IPM program and become a key part of our growing team. Must have demonstrable knowledge of IPM principles, Pest and Disease Identification, Familiarity with Chemical Rotations, Biological Controls, and Herbicide Strategy.

Prior experience is essential for this role and unsuitable applicants will not be acknowledged.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·In-depth scouting of key crops for pests and disease, developing annual scouting schedule for efficiency and accuracy.

·Developing and implementing scouting training programs to train section growers to assist in pest and disease identification.

·Ability to research and diagnose potential pathogens, collecting and submitting laboratory samples for testing when necessary.

·Schedule and perform fungicide and pesticide postings and applications, always with a focus on worker and customer safety. Provide comprehensive training to non-licensed applicators.

·Routine inspections and maintenance of all application equipment with assistance from Facilities team.

·Maintain accurate chemical inventory and SDS sheets in full compliance with WPS standards.

·Serve as main point of communication between Growers, Sales, and Production teams -- communicating in a timely manner any IPM issue affecting current or future sales, along with a detailed plan of action and subsequent follow-ups.

·Develop and refine our strategic herbicide program for weed control around the nursery.

·Build and adjust excellent chemical rotations for maximum efficacy and minimal resistance development.

·Management and development of biological control program.

·Computer record keeping -- Access databases, Microsoft Office Suite, Argus Climate Control Software.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·Educational background or 3-year min. experience in IPM Program Management and Chemical Handling.

·Extensive plant knowledge of perennial and annual crops.

·Passion for growing plants in a fast-paced environment.

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

·Analytical and inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions or offer new ideas.

·Organized, self-motivated, good time management.

·Solutions-oriented and Supportive Team Player.

·WA Private Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire

·Desire and willingness to use technology to support job performance.
