Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Architect, Americas CTO Office in Redmond, Washington

The Enterprise Architect will help form a new team within the Americas CTO Office. This dynamic team will be at the forefront of our strategic initiatives, working directly with customers to shape projects that drive innovation and growth. You will work with high impact customers who have strategic goals to help design innovative solutions. As part of our team, you will work with various technologies, tackle interesting business problems, contribute to open source, and partner with many talented people across Microsoft to help our customers exceed their goals. By collaborating closely with Product Engineering, the team will amplify the voice of the customer and ensure that our company's outcomes are aligned with their needs and expectations. Furthermore, the team will partner with account teams and our commercial and technical field teams to share best practices and actively engage with the Americas technical professionals to strengthen our community of learning. Responsibilities

Understand Customer/Partner Technical Requirements

  • Leads discussions with stakeholdersfrom one or many strategic customers to prioritize and shape the definition and execution of strategic projects that align business strategy with technical strategy and success measures.

  • Navigates political situations with high customer empathy to build stakeholder alignment.

Design

  • Architects appropriate cloud-scale solutions, from network design fundamentals to security to proper use of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS products.

  • Designs multi-tenant commercialized products with billing mechanisms that meet stringent security,compliance, and audit requirements.

Develop and Implement

  • Shifts from business strategy to technical strategy to code. Not a full-time developer, but always grounded in the reality of code.

  • Creates prototypes or pilots where needed to develop customer’s understanding of vision to reality.

Trusted Advisor

  • Acts as customer voice and partners with Product Engineering to coordinate improvements to eliminate prioritized gaps and improve the customer experience.

  • Develops trusted relationships with upper-level decision makers at high-impact customers/partners to build influence in addressing problems/blockers and facilitatingadditional views on the matter of interest. Acts as an advisor to external stakeholders.

  • Differentiates Microsoft's solutions in complex and/or high-risk customer/partner conversations to influence the industry-wide direction for specific architecture(s).

Thought Leadership

  • Initiates and drives internal and external technical communities and community events across Americas to strengthen understanding of concepts and share best practices.

  • Serves as amarket leader and drives recognition for Microsoft solutions through presentations and engagements with external audiences and publishing white papers around key technical topics and/or architecture design templates.

  • Mentors other team members and shares knowledge.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, software development/delivery work

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of enterprise customer-facing experience.

  • Hands-on experience with complex production applications that use Azure, AWS, GCP, and large-scale,on-premise deploymentswith a focus on one or more of the following:

  • Designing and implementing production cloud data estates

  • Developing and implementing production AI applications from first hypothesis to production

  • Network and application security at cloud-scale

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Business maturity and experience working with upper-level executives and upper-level customer stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently but seek guidance, coaching, and assistance from both direct leadership and the Americas CTO as needed.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous and continually evolving environment with the ability to adapt plans and approaches real-time.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
