Microsoft Corporation Business Manager in Redmond, Washington

343 Industries is the developer of the blockbuster Halo series of video games. We are looking to hire a Business Manager to join our team. As part of Xbox Game Studios, the Halo franchise encompasses games, television series, novels, comics, licensed collectibles, apparel and more. We are looking for talented new voices to join our team to build the next generation of games and experiences in our award-winning sci-fi universe. As a Halo Franchise Business Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the business management of out-of-game products and experiences for 343 Industries.. This business manager’s job will run the gamut from supporting product ideation through developing business strategies for how players experience our games outside of their Xbox or PC. You will work directly with product leaders to develop product strategy, create business models, review / design contracts, manage budgets, formulate long-term product / financial plans, and ensure accountability to each team's contribution to franchise KPIs. This role requires deep modeling skills, solid strategic thinking, and the ability to work autonomously, jumping from strategy to execution and back again.

Your unique blend of skills and passion could come from a broad range of disciplines: production, business development, business affairs, marketing, product planning or finance. 

Roles at our studio are flexible, and you can work from home up to two days a week in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product owners to formulate short (0-3 yrs.) and long-term (3-7 yrs.) business strategies for entertainment products.

  • Create complex financial models, comprised of tangible and intangible value, that drive business innovation and profitable performance in the entertainment industry.

  • Create business cases to help bring a product and/or feature to market by analyzing all aspects of the go-to-market plan within a matrixed organization.

  • Work with product teams to make the right production decisions, minimizing costs / risk while delivering quality products on-time and on-budget.

  • Develop key performance indicators to develop business intelligence and evaluate performance to optimize and iterate for better customer experiences.

  • Forge partnerships and negotiate contracts with external partners.

  • Solid written and verbal executive communication skills needed to work across a multi-discipline product team and external partners.

  • Deep understanding of contract design and melding legalese with business requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science

  • OR related field AND 1+ year(s), financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 2+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related role

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in a consumer tech and/or interactive media & entertainment business focused on developing and driving cross-organization product strategy.

  • Supported or managed a business and/or forecasting across a full P&L.

  • Experience within the video game industry is a plus.

  • Deep knowledge and experience using excel and other tools to build complex forecasts.

Business Strategy IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
