Dignity Health Medical Assistant I in Redding, California

Overview

For more than 70 years Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care Stroke Care Orthopedics Neurological Surgery Comprehensive Cancer Care Maternity Care and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. In addition the hospital’s network of care includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living. Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Staff Nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner in caring for the clinical patient and providing individualized nursing care in a timely manner with emphasis on cost containment. The incumbent is also responsible for specimen procurement and dispatch and for department support in processing and microbiology.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • One year experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient medical office, or physician clinic setting or with possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program and recent Medical Assistant experience required

  • Current CPT I or proof that application has been approved by DHS/LFS and BLS from an AHA program (BLS may be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire into position) required.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.

  • Completion of state approved phlebotomy class is required. Medical terminology, ability to clearly communicate and understand English required

PREFERRED:

  • Recent phlebotomy and two years experience in a clinical setting preferred

  • Associates degree in a related field preferred

  • Spanish speaking skills preferred

  • Working knowledge of state supported programs specific to rural health clinics and Medical Assistant certification preferred

Pay Range

$23.00 - $24.81 /hour
