Penske Project Manager - Field Operations Planning, PTL in Reading, Pennsylvania

POSITION SUMMARY:

Penske Truck Leasing, a leader in the transportation industry, has an exciting opportunity to leverage your strong project management skills and passion for people. As a Project Manager focused on Field Operational Planning, you will help manage projects to identify and address gaps between Penske’s current and future workforce needs in alignment with business strategy. The Field Operations Planning function balances quantity, quality, and location of critical talent necessary to meet business needs. Through organizational partnership and predictive analytics, we can maximize our footprint for anticipated growth.

This role is tied to critical, large-scale field initiatives to deliver more effective and efficient ways of working. In it, you will work with teams using data-driven insights, critical problem solving and impactful communication to translate business insights into action, influencing strategic business and workforce decisions. Your successful management of these significant and complex projects will make a positive impact on our customers, internal teams, and contribute to the overall success of the business.

If you possess strong critical thinking skills and have prior project experience, or if you have served in a Project Management role at Penske or in another organization, we are interested in talking to you. This role will report to the Vice President of Field Operations Planning for Penske Truck Leasing, and collaborate across an internal team and many different resources across the organization. This position is highly preferred to be based out of our corporate offices in Green Hills/Reading, PA. Highly qualified candidates may be considered with an understanding there will travel of at least 25% including our field operations and corporate office.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive results by leading project teams at the field level to help drive revenue and/or reduce costs.

• Collaborate with core process owners to develop and execute field initiatives.

• Provide research and informational support to the Director of Field-Strategic Initiatives and the Executive Vice President of Field Operations for their field programs.

• Manage and lead projects, programs, and initiatives, including the planning, analysis, design/development, execution, monitoring, and control of defined initiatives.

• Contribute to the development of Penske’s messaging regarding resource optimization and workforce planning goals.

• Educate internal customers on industry trends regarding workforce planning tools and technology.

• Review deployment strategies regarding the implementation of new initiative related to matters of interest to the Filed Operations Planning Team and projects.

• Collaborate with multiple levels within the organization to strategize to help our achieve workforce and facility optimization goals.

• Collaborate with the other Project Managers where appropriate in order to create consistencies in project management processes and applications.

• Manage and create content, which includes documentation of projects; Using Six sigma tools to validate effectiveness of projects; Using Operational excellence approaches that identify the scope and desired outcomes along with timelines for reporting out and completing projects.

• Other projects and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• 5+ years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion.

• Experience leading/managing projects and project teams is required; formal training in this area is a plus.

• Strong project management skills – organization, facilitation, CAP required

• Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and lead others indirectly to keep projects moving forward.

• Must have effective presentation skills with the ability to present project information to Internal customers and all levels of management

• Experience with business analysis, process mapping and new process design projects preferred

• Advanced PC knowledge and capabilities, Access and Excel required

• Must have strong oral and written communication skills

• Must have independent problem solving skills

• Strong time management and follow-up skills required

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
