Actalent is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer for a client in the Kansas City metro area. This person must be proficient in SolidWorks with experience designing new products to launch to market. Medical device experience is preferred but not required. Your designs can make a difference in the lives of millions!

Description:

• Develop the mechanical and electro-mechanical systems: definition, documentation, prototyping, testing and debugging, qualification, and release to production of reliable and cost-effective solutions.

• Evaluate and optimize product concepts for function (e.g., fit, function, interference, etc.), manufacturability, packaging and material handling.

• Review/Approve finalized engineering product drawings with dimensions, performance specifications, GD&T and quality specifications

• Generate product prototypes, perform product testing and ensure that new products function properly, meet specifications, and timing objectives

• Develop and evaluate cost analysis for new and modified product concepts from design through production launch.

• Responsible for new product development that meets safety compliance requirements (FDA, CE, UL, FCC and others) and coordinate product compliance testing.

• Maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, procedures and other types of engineering documentation in Document Control Database system.

• Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.

SolidWorks, Mechanical design, Mechanical engineering, Medical Device, Electrical design, GD&T

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Proficiency in SolidWorks

• Must have 2-3 years of mechanical design experience, internship can count.

• Familiarity with drawing configuration management control process and changes to designs.

• Read and understand schematics.
