GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  The Driver/Food Assistant drives vehicle to deliver meals to area congregate sites, home delivery routes and catered events on a timely schedule as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures timely delivery meals (congregate, home delivered and catered events, including DIP) as assigned; delivers meals under variable weather conditions to meet meal orders.

  2. Assists with packing of meals daily.

  3. Acts in a professional manner; interacts with clients in a caring manner.

  4. Obtains client signatures when meals are delivered; delivers weekly donation envelopes and menus to clients.

  5. Provides support to nutrition centers and work-catered events (including DIP) as necessary.

  6. Receives and submits all donations and gas receipts daily. 

  7. Reports ALL accidents to Program Manager IMMEDIATELY.

  8. Reports all pertinent information to Program Manager.

  9. Maintains the cleanliness of coolers and equipment; assists with daily cleaning of facility.

  10. Works cooperatively with existing staff and volunteers for efficient delivery of services.

  11. Responsible for vehicle safety check; advises Program Manager of any repair or maintenance needs. 

  12. Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.

  13. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to follow instruction.

  2. Knowledge of food service procedures.

  3. Observes safe driving practices; able to read a map and follow directions.

  4. Maintains a clean, neat appearance at all times.

  5. Must be sensitive to elder adults; able to work with volunteers and relate with people from all economic backgrounds.

  6. Friendly, courteous manner; able to communicate effectively, be flexible in work environment and work well with others.

  7. Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.

  8. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation). 

     

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds throughout shift.
