Job summary:
The Primary Proofreader is responsible for quality control points within the label design and development process to insure labeling meets design requirements. Role will be accountable for verification of labeling for New Product Development, Lifecycle Management, and Process Improvement projects for Worldwide Product Labeling (WWPL), within a franchise of Global Surgery, including:
Following established procedures to verify/proof and edit product labeling and packaging graphics.
Document results of verification as per Good Documentation Practices and provide as feedback for iterative design work by graphic designer
Duties will include proofing per requirements including content, format, grammar, punctuation, electronic navigation (hyperlinking), spelling, symbology, etc.
As necessary, approves proofs, blue-lines, or color chromes supplied by vendors.
As necessary, verify design templates required to complete standardized label/IFU work
Capable to use proofing technology, including working with vendors to integrate technology into labeling process
Participates or leads technology evaluation and process improvements to improve proofing capability.
Develop/maintain proofing guidelines, including improving/standardization of proofing practices
Maintaining records and documentation as per process and quality system
Maintain quality metrics
Maintains training and procedure knowledge for all businesses supported
Support quality escalations and CAPAs as appropriate.
May support change documentation as appropriate
Key responsibilities:
POLICIES: Know & follow policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility
TRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures . Complete required periodic re-training in areas such as safety & environmental
SAFETY: Follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. Promote safety to all associates that enter work area Labeling
Partner with designers and key stakeholders to execute labeling and IFU projects
Provide writing, proof-reading, and project management skills to ensure labeling and IFU projects are executed with accuracy
Follow proofing procedures/guidelines and document as per Good Documentation Practices
Manage multiple projects
Regularly update stakeholders on project status
Support process improvement initiatives within the department and company
Collaborate across all Labeling Center of Excellence companies to ensure consistency in labeling execution
Provide documentation support for WWPL. Documentation may include spreadsheets, presentations, and project specific forms.
Investigates and communicates internal and external customer inquiries and complaints.
Use company-specific documentation systems to manage the storage and release of documents.
Interface with Supplier Management to assess suppliers and supply necessary documentation to support J&J approval of supplier

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s preferred (BS/BA) in communications, english, linguistics or related field.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
3 years of related experience
Strong correspondence and documentation composing skills
Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to conduct meetings, conferences and presentations.

Preferred:
Experience in life sciences – preferred
Experience in regulated industry - medical device - preferred.
Project management skills - preferred
Domestic and international regulatory and legal regulations - preferred
Change Management concepts and methods – preferred
Fluency in other languages in addition to English - preferred
Prior experience with proofing technologies - preferred

Physical Demands:
Office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, using the phone & computer.
Extended periods of time at desk, computer terminals, & viewing computer screens
May lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Proofer may supervise or direct co-ops, interns, in-house or contract proofers or other team resources when necessary
Travel Requirements: Travel may be required, expected to be less than 10%.

This is a remote position that supports global stakeholders and may occasionally require working and conducting meetings outside local daily working hours to support global regions.
Additional Information:
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $ 70,000 to $ 90,000
This position is overtime eligible.

ü Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
ü Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year
ü Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
ü Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
