Within J&J Innovative Medicine, the R&D Global Clinical Development Business Technology team is the strategic information technology partner providing leading-edge technology solutions that enables Global Development to expertly deliver on our portfolio and helps provide transformative medicines to patients around the world while proactively improving agility, embracing innovation and creating the organization we need to deliver in the future.

As a member of the Global Clinical Development Technology team, the IT Director, Product Group Leader (PGL) is accountable for leading the Clinical Monitoring & Reporting Product Group. This role reports to the Head of Technology for Global Clinical Development.

Responsibilities:

The IT Director, PGL will:

  • Partner closely with Global Clinical Development partners to document business processes, optimize these processes, and establish efficient and innovative new approaches for the business.

  • Develop and continue to refine the product group vision and Objective Key Results (OKRs) to ensure business value is being delivered within his/her product and squads.

  • Ensure products/squads within the Clinical Monitoring & Reporting product group include all roles required to successfully deliver the solution including engineering resources to design and deliver innovative solutions leveraging Data and Statistical Analysis tools, Predictive Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and deep learning frameworks capabilities.

  • Ensure effective integration with systems and technologies in existing system landscapes.

  • Be responsible for ensuring the outcomes of the Clinical Monitoring & Reporting product group are achieved.

  • Develop roadmaps, budget and capital appropriation requests, direct squad resources, and help the business partner(s) realize the desired business goals.

  • Will work closely with internal delivery teams, other J&J R&D IT PGLs, Technical Product Managers and Owners (TPMs and TPOs), as well as J&J IT, external service providers and solution vendors to ensure delivery of solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and ethical guidelines when implementing solutions.

  • Develop metrics and monitoring systems to evaluate the effectiveness of technologies in streamlining processes and improving output quality.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Advance degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of Product Management or similar experience is required in the pharmaceutical development IT (Clinical, Pharmacovigilance, and Regulatory) preferably focused on Clinical.

  • Proven hands-on experience with Data and Statistical Analysis tools and techniques (SAS, R), Predictive Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and deep learning frameworks to enable more precise decision making in clinical monitoring to enhance study quality, add efficiency, and improve patient safety.

  • Proven and demonstratable track record in driving the adoption of solutions in highly regulated environments and in ensuring all necessary compliance requirements for workflow, reporting, and information custody are addressed.

  • Practical knowledge of business analysis techniques to define and capture business value, user stories, workflows, and requirements.

  • Proven track record of building and mentoring teams, cross-functional leadership with outstanding influencing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in a sophisticated, multi-cultural environment.

  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication skills in English

  • 10% business travel possible

Salary

For US based candidates, the base pay range for this position is $200,600 USD to $271,400 USD.

Bonus

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
