Servall Uniform & Linen - RC Assistant Production Manager (Afternoon Shift) in RAPID CITY, South Dakota

Job Summary: Supervise plant employees during the afternoon shift which includes planning and assigning work, managing employees for continuous improvement, implementing policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in production and work environment.

Job requirements:

  • Must be able to analyze working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase employee skills and capabilities.
  • Must be able to prepare activity plans for the above items and discuss them with the Production Manager.
  • Must be able to assist Production Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, and performance management.
  • Must be able to step in and work beside production employees in all departments to meet deadlines.
  • Must have the flexibility to work overtime and outside of normal working hours to meet deadlines.
  • The ability tosafely complete heavy lifting tasks regularly.

Job responsibilities and essential job functions:

  • Make sure each department is producing what's required in the needed time frame to ensure all departments have the product to fulfill daily requirements in a smooth flowing timely manner.
  • Train new employees in their position as needed.
  • Review the progress of new employees and give them feedback.
  • Check with leads and work areas throughout the day to see if there are any problems and work to resolve them.
  • Ensure personal are at their respective workstation, and they have the tools needed to perform their daily duties.
  • Give printed reports to leads, go over problem areas and help with a solution on how to fix the problem, and then communicate with Production Manager.
  • Listen to employees for ideas they may have to make a job easier, then discuss with Production Manager.
  • Shift people to different areas if there are absences. If there is no one to move to an area then, Assistant Production Manager must fill that area and communicate actions to Production Manager.
  • Review inventory levels in the plant and discuss any shortages with the Production Manager.
  • Address performance and work issues with employees as necessary per company policies and treat employees fair and consistent.

Job qualifications:

  • Supervisory, employee training and development, and leadership experience helpful.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in Quality Management helpful.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Team player and commitment to company values.

Work Environment:Typical plant environment: can be hot and humid inside the plant- must be aware of safety protocols and avoiding injury from possible burns from hot steam and presses, bumping head from low rails, moving parts of machinery and tools, and small spaces; on the loading dock, exposure to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
