Applied Research Associates, Inc. IT Support Assistant in Randolph, Vermont

Description

The Integrated Products Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc is seeking an IT Support Assistant to join our Randolph, VT office! This is an intern/junior level, on-site opportunity! The individual selected for this position will work with IPD’s LAN Manager to help support IPD’s helpdesk needs in our Information Technology department.

  • What you’ll do as a Helpdesk Support Technician

  • Provide entry level “helpdesk” computer support and technical assistance to end users on a variety of issues.

  • Set up and help provision computers for new hires as well as computer replacements. Help, investigate, quote out and install new user software as necessary.

  • Help maintain user accounts and provide password/account resets as necessary.

  • Escalate issues as necessary to IPD’s LAN Manager and work with IPD’s LAN Manager on occasional IT projects.

  • Troubleshoot basic file and print server issues.

  • Troubleshoot basic user issues in our M365 environment which includes the use of SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Teams.

  • Apply security patches and updates in a timely manner on IT systems.

  • Provide occasional “Project Related” IT assistance for IPD projects that have IT needs.

  • Help document and maintain IT related procedures.

  • Help maintain inventory and licensing records for hardware and software acquisitions.

  • Provide training as required to users on subject areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Helpdesk Support Technician Requirements

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years of experience supporting desktops/laptops; specifically, with systems running Windows 10 on a Windows network, including printers and other peripherals. (Education may be counted in lieu of experience, one year of college is equivalent to two years of experience).

  • Experience supporting an array of applications on the Windows operating systems including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook Email, disk encryption, and antivirus software.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing computing hardware and printers. Experience with computer networking a plus.

  • Must be customer service focused and have excellent time management skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented, proactive, well organized, and have ability to prioritize work.

  • Work collaboratively with team members, and on an individual basis.

  • Requires ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written)

  • US citizenship required.

Helpdesk Support Technician Preferences

  • Experience with Windows Server 2016/Windows 10 and above.

  • Experience with Linux distributions to help support software dev initiatives.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 office applications

  • Active Directory/Windows Server experience

  • Antivirus software

  • Printers and related operating principals

  • A path towards an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CS, or other IT-related field.

  • Understanding of IT security best practices.

  • Experience working with IT hardware in a business/enterprise environment.

  • Experience with basic network connectivity principals such as DHCP, DNS, routing, IP Addressing, IPV4 etc.
