Howmet Aerospace Blacksmith in Rancho Cucamonga, California

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.   • The team leader will oversee a crew of 2-6 employees, within the same department, on an assigned work shift.

  • Conducts setup, layout and planning of operations based upon job order requirements

  • Interacts with other departments to meet production schedules

  • Leads a crew through the forging process as required based on the type of alloy and as specified on the job order and signing on the furnace charts, shop traveler and any other required paperwork

  • Maintains general shop order number and heat lot tractability on billet traceable jobs and serial number tractability

  • Understands heat up rates and material shrinkage allowances

  • Understands, executes and leads others through WI 1.4.2.08 control of Forging operations.

  • Assures proper furnace set up and temperature control and oversees the safe loading and unloading of work pieces

  • Verifies conformance of work piece to job order requirements

  • Must have an understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.

  • Train new employees to develop the knowledge and skills in the forging process.

  • Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of three years related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid forklift certification.

Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PAY

$26 - $33/ hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
