Summary About the position: This position is located at the Lodging facilities, for Ramstein AB, Germany. The purpose of this position is to operate motor vehicles with vehicle weight of up to 10,000lbs to deliver clean linens and pick-up dirty linens in the KMC. Physical Effort: Moderate effort reaching, bending, turning; moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand/foot controls. Handles objects up to 40lbs. Pushes heavy objects, e.g., linens, furniture on dollies, pallet jacks, loaded carts. Responsibilities 1. Operates a variety of motor vehicles including panel trucks, sedans, and station wagons that weigh up to 10,000 pounds, for transport of personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools throughout the KMC Lodging Operation. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles. Loads or assists in loading, unloading, and arranging cargo. 2. Performs a variety of manual tasks such as moving, arranging, collecting, and cleaning equipment and materials. Moves and arranges furniture, as directed. May collect and empty garbage cans, wash and wax cars and trucks by hand or using a power washer. May clean and arrange warehouse as directed by manager. Provides occasional minor landscaping duties as directed by supervisor. 3. Loads linen carts to deliver clean linen to storage areas at multiple locations. Includes loading, stocking shelves, and organizing all shelves with correct amount of each type of linen according to a standardized stocking plan. Retrieves dirty linens from each storage area by loading items in linen cart and transporting items. Motor vehicle operators will sort, count, bundle, and tag dirty linens and place the bundles on carts for contractor pick up at centralized distribution points. 4. May also be required to organize clean linen from contractor onto carts for delivery, loading, and stocking of shelves at the Linen Exchange facility. Perform general warehouse housekeeping duties as required such as sweeping, mopping, wiping, etc. Uses electric sealing machine to wrap extra linen for guest rooms like blankets and pillows. Must follow directions in wrapping items with plastic pouches or rolls to avoid potential burn injuries. 5. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds. Must be able to load and arrange cargo. Must be physically able to frequently handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be able to exert moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required.
