UL, LLC Scientist II in Raleigh, North Carolina

This role is fully onsite Monday-Friday at our RTP facility.

  • Conducts analyses according to applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory procedural guides (LPGs).

  • Must be knowledgeable in applicable reference methods, such as ISO 10993-5 and USP 87 and USP 85.

  • Ensures result record sheets are accurately completed and submitted to Reporting on time.

  • May create, optimize, adapt or expand standard methods, techniques and analyses.

  • Reviews existing SOPs and makes clerical and procedural recommendations for improvement.

  • Creates SOPs for use in the laboratory in the designated format.

  • Provides training regarding the principles, application, and limitations of analytical techniques.

  • Adheres to all quality control requirements per Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ISO 17025.

  • Documents corrective actions for out-of-control parameters.

  • Assists in resolving all quality assurance issues.

  • Reviews sample analysis and results performed by other Scientists as a quality assurance procedure.

  • Responsible for minor instrument repairs, and with experience, major repairs.

  • Performs routine instrument maintenance and updates entries in maintenance logs.

  • Keeps work area neat and clean.

  • Ensures that all data entered into the laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is submitted and archived in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly articulate the laboratory's standard practices as related to the referenced methods and the willingness to assist in other areas of the organization.

  • Cross-trains on several different procedures/methods within their department and possibly other departments as directed.

  • Interfaces regularly with the project management and quality assurance departments to resolve quality and technical issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Maintain cell cultures, media prep and conduct testing.

  • Create and maintain SOPs and LPGs

  • Reviews existing SOPs and makes clerical and procedural recommendations for improvement.

  • Responsible for minor instrument repairs, and with experience, major repairs.

  • Performs routine instrument maintenance and/or verifications and updates entries in maintenance/verification logs.

  • Ensures that all data entered into the laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is submitted and archived in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Maintain workflows to ensure projects close in a timely manner.

  • Cross-trains on several different procedures/methods within their department and possibly other departments as directed.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • University Degree (Equivalent to a degree) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry and Natural Sciences, plus, generally three years related work experience.
