Eaton Corporation Division OPEX Leader in Raleigh, North Carolina

Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions (CPS) Division has an opening for an Industrialization, Operational Excellence (OPEX) and Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader. The preferred location for this position is our Raleigh, NC facility, but remote work could be considered.  All candidates must currently reside within the United States and must work out of a United States remote location.  Relocation benefits (to Raleigh, NC only) will be provided for those interested within the United States only. Candidates based in Raleigh can expect 25% travel, but for those located elsewhere, travel is expected to be around 50%.

What you’ll do:

This position is a key operational leader for Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions (CPS) Division, roughly a $1B business encompassing product lines ranging from Uninterruptible Power Systems, Energy Storage Systems, and Power Distribution equipment. These innovative products are driving the success of our electrical sector and serve customers in a variety of industries, especially our growing Data Center business. In this role, you will be responsible for leading all new product industrialization activities, as well as planning, developing, directing and coordinating the division’s Continuous Improvement strategy, which includes deployment, training and mentoring of Eaton Lean System, Operations Assessment (OpA) and Continuous Improvement (CIF) integration.  This person will have direct responsibility over OPEX multiple sites within the US and will lead and manage a team of direct and matrixed CI professionals.

In this role you will:

•    Drive the development of manufacturing strategies, flow optimization for the division

•    Drive core functional excellence through implementing: Eaton Business System, Lean, Six Sigma, and other world-class operations management techniques

•    Coordinate monthly operational metric reviews for division, manage and monitor Balanced Scorecard performance and actions on monthly basis

•    Lead or facilitate projects or events such as Rapid Improvement Events, Value Stream Map (VSM) process, Continuous Flow, Standardization 5S+, Error Proofing, Eliminating Waste, TPM, Pull System, etc

•    Support and drive key success measures for product industrialization including cost estimating/optimization, prototype and pilot activities and operations readiness

•    Provide cost effective manufacturing processes for new product introductions into Power Quality Division manufacturing facilities

•    Drive standardization on industrialization standard documentations (Process flow charts, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFEMA) activities, and work instructions.

•    Coordinate DFM and DFA to ensure a smooth product release into manufacturing 

•    Influence new product development projects using phased gate process as a tool to articulate deliverables and a vehicle to commit to schedules, and improve manufacturability 

•    Engage the Business Units, Design Engineering, Operations and other Engineering  functions to ensure the effective and on-time launch into Manufacturing within budget with the highest levels of product quality

•    Provide guidance and support for electro-mechanical assembly, mechanical parts introduction/procurement, component support,  as well as all necessary related tooling and capital equipment

Qualifications:

This job might be for you if have the following basic requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution

•    Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement at a best-in-class industrial/manufacturing organization

•    Minimum 2 years of leadership experience and managing others 

•    Continuous Improvement, operational excellence, or operations experience over a multi-site manufacturing operation/division or large, complex plant

•    Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Criteria:

•    Experience with mechanical, electrical and/or automation engineering

•    Engineered to Order (ETO)/Configure to Order product experience strongly preferred

•    SAP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience 

•    Experience with Design for Manufacturing, Assembly

•    Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodology, tool proficiency and problem-solving tools. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

•    Experience with developing and implementing manufacturing processes

Skills:

•    Ability to demonstrate knowledge of continuous improvement methods, approaches and tools, including strategic management and project management

•    Ability to demonstrate organizational savvy, motivate and influence matrix teams/resources

•    Ability to effectively communicate with all levels, tailoring the content and style to the audience as appropriate

•    Ability to demonstrate a global perspective

•    Ability to teach, coach and mentor

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
