The Opportunity

The Director of Brokerage Operations is responsible for leading the brokerage operations team by both oversite of the day to day and in addition by thinking strategically about implementing the right policy, procedures and technology required to scale back office operations in the near and long term. This person will help set the vision to build a modern, paperless back office and remove customer pain points which are a result of operational inefficiencies. This person will be expected to prepare materials and present to both senior management and regulatory bodies (FINRA, SEC, etc.) This role will have a high-level understanding of all the regulatory requirements for various brokerage functions: processing client’s accounts including cashiering, funds movement, new accounts, ACAT’s CIP and for the Client Services functions supporting Ally Invest.

The Work Itself

  • Support other Leadership team with strategic direction of various operational projects
  • Oversees and manages the daily work of team of 30 people including 3 managers/supervisors
  • Manages relationships with key vendors such as Apex and others
  • Identify areas to improve operational efficiencies and product enhancements
  • Performs a variety of operations functions following pre-established supervisory procedures to ensure accurate record keeping the firm compliant
  • Implement and maintain both SLA’s and KPI’s for the business unit
  • Oversees the preparation of both regulatory and internal audit data requests
  • Provide research and supporting documentation for compliance and regulatory inquiries
  • Communicate all updates and issues to customer service and operations team and entire organization as needed
  • Subject matter expert and first point of contact for Managers and Supervisors on all brokerage operations issues
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with peer team members from Trading, Tech, Product Management and Sr.
  • Leaders
  • Mentor and train employees through coaching and guidance, leveraging industry experience
  • Assist direct managers in problem resolution in real time
  • Field and resolve escalated client contacts
  • Work with Training and QA manager for ongoing employee’s development
  • Remain current on internal work processes, procedures, and product knowledge
  • Understand, comply, maintain and reinforce regulatory and firms policies and procedure/guidelines

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum 7-10 years in client related support in the financial services or brokerage retail environment or related industry required
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, 24 licenses required
  • FINRA Series 4 highly preferred
  • Expert understanding of trading platforms and tools including various market data sources
  • Solid relationship building and ability to deal with internal/external resources
  • Able to work independently and with a team to handle all issues while working under strict time constraints
  • Able to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks with little notice
  • Must be confident and highly credible via e-chats, email, over the phone and in person
  • Able to work in high-pressure environment with strict SLA’s and deadlines
  • Detail and results oriented and able to prioritize tasks in a multi-task environment
  • Experience in leveraging organizational skills to support client needs, focusing on execution, accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong communicator who can effectively process constructive feedback while always keeping the corporate and end user goals in mind
  • Excellent oral and written communication with strong emphasis on grammar and strong desire to provide an exceptional customer experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or equivalent business experience

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 125000

Experienced: 157500

Expert: 190000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
