Job Summary

The Community Engagement Project Manager will play a role in effectively managing and implementing various Council programs and Community Engagement initiatives. This role will ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and stakeholders are informed of program progress.

The Community Engagement Project Manager will work closely with Council departments such as Membership, Outdoor, Program, Fund Development, Finance, etc.

Plan and develop new and existing programs for community engagement focus areas (i.e., STEM, mindfulness, healthy living, etc.) while working in partnership with Membership, Outdoor, and Program departments.

Evaluate new and existing programs for efficacy and re-design based on community needs and strategic priorities.

Responsible for creating and developing program curriculum, standard operating procedures, and implementing best practices.

Proactively managing program deliverables to remain within established timelines to ensure efficiency in program execution.

Demonstrate sound fiduciary oversight; prepare and oversee designated budget to ensure programs are cost-effective while providing regular updates for reporting.

Assess current community partners’ relationship management needs for identified grants.

Work collaboratively with the Outdoor Program and Fund Development departments to develop strategies to ensure retention of community and educational partners in grant-funded areas.

Onboard and train new community engagement staff within established guidelines while providing guidance to other team members on best practices.

Work with Membership Managers to develop a viable plan for re-engaging membership served by the Council in community engagement.

Provide regular status reports on progress throughout the project lifecycle and revise strategies as needed for timely goal completion.

Actively support and promote the Council’s and GSUSA’s commitment to diversity, pluralism, and anti-racism throughout the organization by ensuring recruitment efforts reach all racial/ethnic groups and provide equal access.

Effectively communicate information regarding the National Program Portfolio, GSUSA handbooks and guidelines, Council policies, as well as the Girl Scout Mission and Council plan of work.

Demonstrate leadership by effectively managing relationships through modeling appropriate behavior, problem-solving, providing support, and timely conflict resolution.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience working in community engagement, outdoor programming, youth programing, or related field.

Minimum of three years of professional experience in project management, youth programming, or related field.

Knowledge of recreation program development practices and current trends in recreation programs.

Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; excellent written/oral communication skills.

High level of computer proficiency and experience including Outlook, Word, Excel, and project management, survey, and/or donor database software. Raiser’s Edge, Qualtrics, SalesForce and Wealth Screening software, Looker experience are a plus.

Strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and programs of the organization, and the ability to convey that information, as well as become a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA.

Service-oriented team player able to work with others at all levels of the organization.

Ability to work flexible and changing schedules, including evenings and weekends.

Must have a valid driver’s license and continuous availability of an automobile.

Ability to travel within the council’s 41 county footprint as needed.

Must be willing to obtain GSUSA membership ($25 annually) upon employment.
