A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Automation Engineer for HVDC Systems you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Raleigh.

You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Design of BCU-based substation control systems forhigh voltage direct current systems (HVDC).

• Implementation of control software as well asverification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.

• Preparation of design specifications, documentation,and effort estimations.

• Clarification of technical requirements within projectteams as well as with customers and suppliers.

• Remote support during commissioning and service ofHVDC systems.

What You Bring

• University degree in electrical engineering with focuson energy technology and min of 3+ years of professional experience.

• Very good knowledge in parameterization of bay controlunits (BCUs), ideally of SIPROTEC 5 devices with DIGSI and CFC (Continuous FlowChart).

• Experience in the realization of the standard IEC61850for substation control and for data exchange with higher level automation andSCADA systems.

• Good knowledge in high voltage and substationtechnology as well as in the design of interlocking schemes and automatedcontrol sequences.

• Good knowledge in secondary interfaces of high voltagecomponents such as switching devices, transformers, CTs and VTs.

• Very good English language skills.

• Fluent inEnglish.

• Willingnessto travel on business and abroad to deliver the system to the customer.

• Applicants must belegally authorized for employment in the United States without need for currentor future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees withcurrent visa sponsorship may beeligible for internal transfers.
