Please review the following job description:

This role will be the SME primarily responsible for the day-to-day care and management of the Ansible Automation Platform. The candidate should be able to communicate thoroughly with application and infrastructure teams to understand and create requirements that can be actioned upon. The candidate will need advanced expertise in writing Ansible playbooks with tight integrations to Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), enterprise authentication mechanisms, and logging and reporting tools. They should also be able to troubleshoot moderately complex technical issues comprising of AAP and integrations to a variety of enterprise and homegrown tools. The candidate must have experience deploying Ansible Tower/AAP and managing the platform for sizeable customers. Candidate should know controller and controller API, execution environments, private automation hub, and event driven ansible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop customized coding, software integration, perform analysis, configure solutions, using tools specific to the project or the area.

  • Lead and participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards, including robust unit testing and support for subsequent release testing.

  • Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for highly complex applications in production.

  • Build in and maintain security controls and monitoring in support of company standards.

  • Typically lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.

  • Solve complex technical and operational problems. Act as a resource for teammates with less experience.

  • May oversee the work of a small team.

  • In an Agile environment: Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and engage with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for design, developing, and maintaining automated unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing automated monitoring capabilities, providing warranty support, and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 to 10 years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience

  • In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices

  • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function

  • Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems by applying best practices

  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Good balance of strategic and tactical skills; high level of mental agility and capacity for original thought

  • Ability to study on your own and quickly learn and put new facts into practice

  • Advanced expertise in writing Ansible playbooks with tight integrations to Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), enterprise authentication mechanisms, and logging and reporting tools.

  • Can troubleshoot moderately complex technical issues comprising of AAP and integrations to a variety of enterprise and homegrown tools.

  • Solid Linux system administration skills at the level Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher

  • Deployed Ansible Tower or AAP 5+ times for sizeable customers or at least 2+ years delivering Ansible Tower or AAP projects.

  • Strong experience of working with AAP (controller & controller API, execution environment, private automation hub).

  • Strong knowledge and experience of how AAP 2.0 or higher installation process works.

  • Experience working with the ansible controller collection.

  • Understands dnf packaging tools.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and methodologies.

  • AAP Certs / Red Hat Training: DO374 - Developing Advanced Automation with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform; DO467- Managing Enterprise Automation with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

  • Advanced Linux certification, e.g. Red Hat Certified Engineer

  • Experience with other automation tools such as Puppet or Chef.

  • Knowledge of Ansible logging and reporting mechanisms (/var/log/tower/tower.log etc.)

  • Understanding of how Ansible can be integrated using middleware tools.

  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) to enhance Ansible playbooks.
