Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited school or university
Bachelor s Degree
PICC line certified and IV proficient
Must be able to wear a lead apron for prolonged periods and stand as needed
Able to do moderate sedation under the direction of a physician
Ability to document in an EMR
Critical Care course completion
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
ACLS
IV certification

Essential Functions:
The Radiology Registered Nurse provides care in the healthcare system within the scope of practice defined by regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. They possesses a knowledge of theory and practice in order to diagnose and treat the human response to actual or potential physical and emotional health problems. The seven domains of professional nursing practice are rendered in accordance with the nursing process which includes assessment of patients, identification of problems and strengths, the planning and enactment of interventions and the evaluation and documentation of methods and outcomes of the nursing care provided. This process includes the involvement of the patient s significant others and is in collaboration with the physicians and those of other disciplines. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients on his or her assigned unit
Assists radiologists and surgeons with various procedures including but not limited to lumbar punctures, biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis and angiograms. Proficient in maintaining a sterile field. Ensures that a patient is prepped for their procedure by reviewing all relevant documentation and coordinating with clinicians.
The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple disciplines to care for the complex needs of the Interventional radiology clients. RN's in this small department are required to spend some time calling patients and scheduling procedures.
