Job Description

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines, and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

Position Overview – Basic Functions & Responsibility

  • A.D. Equipment & Automation will report to the Director Global Capital Procurement Equipment & Automation and will work in active strategic role within the Global Capital Procurement team and across global Equipment & Automation categories.

  • Lead the sourcing of Equipment and Automation (capital spend) to support investment project across the Human Health division globally.

  • Scope of spend impacted will be dependent upon the size, scale and complexities of the investments and categories/subcategories to be managed.

  • The categories for a Category Manager will be strategic in nature and highly complex and require a wide breadth of skills including.

  • The Category Manager will be responsible for engaging stakeholders, specifically Equipment Management Teams, and local / regional suppliers.

Project Procurement Category Leader

  • Lead cross functional teams (Center of Excellence) of individuals through the day-to-day activities of supporting the investments programs with responsibility for driving the category/subcategories sourcing strategies and stakeholder management, including tier meetings attendance.

  • Category/Subcategories Stakeholder Engagement

  • Understand stakeholder requirements in relation to establishing supply strategy and proactive mitigation of supply risk/issues.

  • Lead Stakeholder engagement meetings.

  • Schedule routine reviews.

  • Be able to translate Stakeholder requirements into tangible business results.

  • Relationship Management Work with Business representatives, Legal and other stakeholders, to develop requirements.

  • Conduct Relationship Management meetings with Key and Active suppliers.

  • Manage Supplier Performance levels.

  • Act as a team player.

Sourcing

  • Create and execute Requests for Information and Requests For Proposals together with subsequent structured information analysis wherever possible using electronic procurement processes.

  • Ensuring all Business Requirements are captured.

  • Lead the assessment of all proposals using predefined criteria derived from the Business Requirements.

  • Ensure Stakeholders are aligned with Assessments and Outcome.

Negotiation Planning and Execution

  • Create detailed pre-negotiation plans, to lead and participate any prolonged negotiation sessions with suppliers and to conduct post negotiation debriefs and follow through plans.

  • Drive negotiations to deliver the most value for the business.

  • Contract Management Prepare and implement appropriate forms of contract and commitment with suppliers.

  • Liaise with corporate Legal as needed for review of contract clause.

  • Lead all term negotiations.

  • The Category Manager will have a strong understanding of contract language and legal positions.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Ensure that appropriate supplier agreements and relationships have good supplier matrix embedded within them.

  • Monitor, report, manage and continuously improve supplier performance using metrics and other tools.

  • Drive innovation and enable knowledge and expertise with Key Suppliers. • Conduct meetings with a routine cadence.

  • Sharing of Learnings Being able to work cross functionally within the Project Team, Region and across Categories and Regions and to share best practices where applicable.

  • Policy Adherence Ensure that all procurement responsibilities, are carried out in an ethical and controlled manner in line with procurement policy and procedures.

  • Assist with the ongoing review of Procurement practices and procedures.

  • Be able to interpret and enforce policy adherence for stakeholders and supply base.

  • Drive Cost Savings Identify, Track and Deliver cost reduction opportunities, focusing on the accuracy of delivery.

  • Understand standard costs and cost setting process.

  • Be able to manage Purchase Price Variance for the category/subcategories of his/her responsibility and track as a component of cost reduction.

  • Manage approvals for cost reduction initiatives with Stakeholder Management and Finance.

  • Improve Working Capital Identify Track and Deliver working capital improvement opportunities, including payment terms monitoring and assistance in inventory reduction programs.

  • Other duties may include:

  • Participant in the LT+1 Management model involvement in strategic initiatives to improve and advance the Category/Subcategories.

  • Metrics Management Supporting/managing performance of the Category/Subcategories in delivery of the critical department metrics, including but not limited to on-time/ in-full delivery, cost reduction, working capital improvements and diversity.

Category Team Membership

  • Be an active member of one or more category teams using the techniques and content as input in the creation of breakthrough strategies.

  • Be able to lead Local/Regional Category Strategies or subsets of Global

Category Strategies

  • Sourcing Strategy Development Develop sourcing strategies that drive the key performance indicators of the department are aligned with the Stakeholder Business Requirements and drive the most value for the company.

Skills

  • Demonstrate strong negotiation/commercial skills.

  • Demonstrate change management experience.

  • Must be capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking and working to an agreed schedule.

  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work both individually and as part of a team.

  • Must have a flexible approach to workload.

  • Must be able to travel for business purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for Equipment & Automation sourcing activities globally

  • Participation in cross functional mitigation and sourcing projects (using an established sourcing management process): Establish sources of supply via market intelligence and analysis, competitive sourcing events, cost analyses, strategic analyses, due diligence/compliance assessments and contract negotiations.

  • Contract Negotiation and Management: Responsible to create pre-negotiation plans, participate in (and in local cases, lead) negotiation sessions with suppliers and to implement contracts after execution.

  • Proactive Cost Management: Development, negotiation, and implementation of cost savings projects.

  • Develop & Sustain Supplier Relationship Management Programs to monitor, report, manage and continuously improve supplier performance, including supplier visits, regular business review meetings and developing key performance indicators. Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships within Human Health; develop a broad understanding of stakeholder needs and priorities; support as Procurement expert in cross-functional and risk mitigation teams.

  • Support the Procure-to-Pay process (and transactional purchasing support).

Education Qualifications:

  • Education Minimum Requirement: Graduate Degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering, science, or business

Required Experience and Skills:

  • At least seven (7) years of work experience in risk mitigation, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and execution preferably on investment projects.

  • SAP-Ariba Experience, high level of Excel and Ariba skills.

  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills.

  • Project Management, change management and problem-solving experience and skills.

  • High degree of flexibility, and adaptability to working in complex and dynamic environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people with many different disciplines, cultures and levels.

  • Experience handling multiple simultaneous and complex projects requiring frequent communication.

  • Ability to work independently with some coaching.
