Job Summary:

Radford University is seeking applications for a Full–Time, Special-Purpose Faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology to serve as Program Coordinator for the Undergraduate Major and lead student retention and engagement initiatives. Area of specialization is open. The position is a renewable nine-month, non-tenure-track position.

The position will begin August 10th, 2024. Applicants should have a master’s or doctoral degree in psychology, with degree awarded by start date, and experience teaching. Preferred applicants will also have experience advising undergraduate students.

The Department of Psychology is part of the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences ( CHBS ). The department supports an undergraduate major and minor in psychology, a master’s program with concentrations in Experimental and Industrial Organizational Psychology, and an Ed.S./M.S. program in School Psychology. Additionally, the department supports the university’s General Education curriculum and supports required courses within a number of other majors.

The primary purpose of this position is to support the undergraduate major and minor. This position is split between ½ time dedicated to teaching and ½ dedicated to service duties. Teaching includes courses within one’s area of expertise and potentially behavioral statistics, research methods, and topical courses in research. Service duties include, but are not limited to: general advising for majors, consulting with psychology faculty on student advising, consulting on the undergraduate curriculum and schedule, internship supervision, representing the department at campus recruitment events, mentor psychology club and Psi Chi, and developing student retention and engagement initiatives.
