BAE Systems HR Business Partner - Entry Level in Radford, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to support our Ordnance (OSI) business in Radford, VA.

In this role, the Human Resources Business Partner will have responsibility for a broad range of HR Business Partner activities including: new hire orientation, leave of absence reporting, event coordination, employee and labor relations, assist in roll out and delivery of HR programs and initiatives, diversity and inclusion efforts, salary/merit planning and administration, staff/resource planning and associated activity, as well as participate in efforts to enhance site culture and change management.

Location/Schedule/Travel:

  • This role is 100% Onsite in Radford, VA

  • The typical starting time is between 7:00AM-8:30AM EST

  • This role supports Manufacturing with multiple shifts and requires flexibility to come in early morning or late evening to support off shift employees on a periodic basis

  • This position will work a 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of complex administrative support duties for human resources, one or more supervisors, managers, individual contributors, or organizational unit.

  • Support the Labor Relations Manager in the grievance process, including written grievance responses.

  • Work as a POC for accommodations and serve a liaison between HR and SHE.

  • Maintains employee electronic files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.

  • Generates scheduled or requested HR reports using Excel and HRIS.

  • Completes electronic documentation needed for new employees (I-9, E-verify, etc.).

  • Conducts new hire and benefit orientations and other training as needed.

  • Support business activities that support a culture that is diverse and inclusive.

  • Act as a change agent for key HR and business changes and provide project management for assigned key HR projects.

  • Assist in managing leave of absence process and return to work of FMLA, STD, and LTD claims and workers compensation, including necessary communication with the employee and management team.

  • Respond to employee relations issues, e.g., employee complaints, and escalate to HR Manager as needed; assist in guiding and coaching managers during the employee disciplinary process.

  • Collaborate with the Centers of Expertise (COEs) and all elements of the HR delivery model to ensure the delivery of world class HR services

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years' work experience or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in data entry, analytics, and reporting.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook).

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations with poise and professionalism.

  • Ability to consistently present a professional and positive image to internal and external customers.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Must be flexible to support HR activities on all shift operations.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Degree in Human Resource, Business, or related field

  • HR Certification from SHRM or HRCI

  • Experience in Union/Labor relations

  • Experience in manufacturing or skilled trades industry environment

  • Experience with PowerBI

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $48800 - $83000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
