Job Description:

We’re looking for an Application and Middleware Operations Senior Engineer to join our Global Operations Command Center (GOCC) team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to perform user administration, environment health checks/KLO, support of incident, request, change and problem tickets, and troubleshoot and incident management of all platform environments for multiple shared platforms supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Start and shut down of middleware applications.

  • Middleware Software installation, configuration, patching, maintenance and tuning

  • Responsible for configuring the infrastructure and installing applications on Windows IIS hosted platform.

  • Working with application teams examining deployment requirements (hardware and software requirements).

  • Reviewing application installation documentation.

  • Executing the install.

  • Automating the installation process.

  • Ensuring that the installation is done in accordance with standards and best practices.

  • Management of the IIS.Net environment, monitor application pools and system response time, server health, applications deployment, and disaster recovery

  • Provide User Support Services (create and track user requests in Service NOW, Update existing Service NOW tickets, Keep Service NOW Queue Management Dashboard updated, Produce weekly status updates).

  • Be available to work off-hours and extended shifts if required.

  • Proactive ownership of incidents-issues until resolution, logging and tracking identified system problems through resolution.

  • Building effective working relationships with internal and external resources, technology vendors and outsourcing service providers and Interfaces with IS groups, strategic vendor partners, and other Business Units, peers, IS Managers, Directors, and AVPs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields

  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT Role/Service Operations

  • Work Arrangement: Full onsite

  • Shift Schedule (Rotating between Mid and Night): Amenability to work on the assigned schedule including (dependent on business need)

  • Minimum Skills to Hire/Must Haves:

  • WebSphere Application Server technology knowledge

  • Experience in fix packs, security patch installation and applying support fixes as required, good troubleshooting skill,

  • Experience in SSL certificate renewal

  • Expertise with the RedHat OpenShift Container Platform

  • Expertise with the RedHat OpenShift Container Platform.

  • Experience in Installation, implementation, upgradation, performance, security and monitoring of WebSphere Application ServerV8.0/8.5/8.5.5 environments.

  • Experience in IBM HTTP Server (IHS) and IBM HTTP Server Plugins.

  • Detail understanding of WebSphere Application Server Clustering for High Availability.

  • Detail understanding of J2EE standards, JDBC configuration, JNDI Directory Services, SOAP and Webservices.

  • Experience in fix packs, security patch installation and applying support fixes as required.

  • Knowledge of Bash/Shell, Jython/Jacl scripting is advantage.

  • Basic knowledge on Monitoring, Alerting, and Observability Concepts and Technologies

  • Basic Knowledge on IT Incident Management process

  • Experience or familiarity with at least one of these is preferred:

  • Service NOW ITSM

  • xMatters

  • New Relic

  • Moogsoft

  • Nice to Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Ansible scripting, Bash/Shell and Python is advantage

  • Knowledge of Splunk, Jenkins

  • 4 or more years’ specific hands-on experience in the administration

  • Hands-on experience on any Database Infrastructure Services (MSSQL/Oracle/Mongo/PostgreSQL/MySQL/Redis/DB2)

  • Basic Knowledge on Cloud Computing Platforms and Technologies

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills such as teamwork

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate; ability to lead and influence technical peers and decision makers.

  • Candidate must have good organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to be flexible to changing environments and to work independently and meet tight deadlines

  • Candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills
