Job Title: Laboratory Technologist

Opportunity to work with the largest Blood Center in the Nation in their QC reference laboratory.

Description:

The Laboratory Supervisor will be managing a team of 10-12 technologist. They will be running the laboratory and providing guidance to the team of technologist under them. They will ensure that the over all flow of the laboratory is running smoothly and that everything is being accomplished in a timely manner. The Supervisor will be a direct resource for the technologist on shift and assist on the bench when needed as well as performing any administrative duties that are required.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

• No weekends/No nights

Must Haves:

1. NY State Medical Technologist license

2. Minimum of 4 years experience working as a technologist in a clinical lab

3. 1 year of leadership experience either in supervisor or lead role

4. Strong communication skills, able to communicate via email, comfortable with share drive, Microsoft outlook

5. Prior hematology/generalist experience preferred.

Job Duties

• Prepared to do reviews of documentation, prioritize work flow and reviews.

• Individual must be detail oriented with documentation.

• Assisting technologist on the bench when needed.

• Ability to work with hematology analyzers.

• Supervise a team of 10-12 technologists

• Responsible for scheduling

Below is the testing the QC reference lab does:

• Hematology Testing

• Perform routine CBC, Platelet Concentrate Quality control, Nageotte Procedure for counting WBC (This counting method describes a procedure for visual counting of leukocytes present in leukodepleted blood or packed red cells products), pH testing of Platelets, and processing and examination of peripheral blood smears.

• Microbiology Testing

• SDP Bacterial Impurities Alert (procedure includes sampling and inoculation by using BPA culture bottle to detect aerobic microorganisms in blood)

• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of leadership experience and minimum of 4 years clinical lab experience
