GENERAL DUTIES

Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.

  • Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories

  • Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials

  • Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities

Reporting to the Chief CLT, a College Laboratory Technician performs the duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in setting up, taking down, and maintaining undergraduate and masters' level Physics and Astronomy laboratory experiments and classroom demonstrations

  • Overseeing the undergraduate computer laboratories in the Physics Department

  • Assisting in training and supporting laboratory instructors

  • Assisting students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials

  • Assisting faculty in the graduate research laboratories with equipment maintenance and repair.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Working experience in safe handling of electronic and other research-sensitive equipment and instrumentation

  • Working experience in repairing electronic instruments

  • Working experience in workplace safety protocols, including handling of chemicals

  • Working experience with machine shop tools

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $47,509-$69,517
