JOB POSTING FOR WATER TREATMENT PLANT (including PWS) SUPERVISOR

MISSION/SUMMARY:

The Water Treatment Plant (including PWS) Supervisor is crucial to operating the mill water treatment and public water system facilities to support mill operations in strict compliance with all applicable regulatory standards. The successful candidate will understand and align industrial and municipal water treatment requirements as they execute their role to exceed expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS – Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Directly supervise 5 hourly shift water plant technicians in the daily operations of the water treatment plant and PWS

  • Actively lead and participate in water plant safety and housekeeping to ensure goals are met within the water treatment plant and PWS

  • Responsible for the planning and monitoring of operational performance against all applicable regulatory requirements and parameters and mill key operating targets

  • Attend mill operations planning & scheduling meetings to represent water plant needs

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and TCEQ regulations including sampling/analysis, recordkeeping and reporting

  • Ensure completion of all required internal and external paperwork, including schedules, work orders, log books, operator rounds sheets, lab bench sheets, and reports

  • Review hard and soft copy files to ensure all records are complete and maintained in readiness for regulatory inspections and audits

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years experience with>10 MGD surface water plant operations and maintenance

  • Experience with water plant SCADA systems, chemical adjustment within disinfection zones, and pump/motor maintenance

  • Experience with TCEQ surface water rules and regulations and reporting

  • Experience in TCEQ inspections and audits

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Requires minimum current Class B Surface Water Operator license from State of Texas

SKILLS – Skills include but not limited to the following :

  • Ability to provide strong leadership to staff and contractor employees in daily safe work operations and projects

  • Understanding of water treatment responsibilities in paperboard facility industrial setting, including appreciation of differences between industrial and municipal needs

  • Ability to work cooperatively with manufacturing production groups in an industrial setting

  • Ability to work with maintenance organization to help prioritize water treatment tasks within larger production setting

  • Effective written and verbal communications skills; must be an effective listener

  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite, database monitoring and trending software, and water plant SCADA systems

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • Weekday schedule, including weekend duty rotation (currently once every 9 weeks)
