U.S. Marine Corps SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Quantico, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Safety Division of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command within Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA Responsibilities You will develop and revise safety and occupational health instructions, rules and regulations applicable to industrial activities and seeks cooperation of supervisors to eliminate unsafe working conditions and mechanical risks. You will participate in command meetings involving private contractors to assess safety and occupational health hazards related to contractor activities such as new construction, repair or maintaining ground facilities. You will conduct investigation of ground accidents, preparing reports of accidents, formulates and establishes procedures for reporting of accidents; maintains accident records and evaluates accident data to detect trends and common patterns. You will develop and conduct a comprehensive ground safety education program through formal training sessions, guest lectures. You will conduct supervisor-employee discussions; publicizes safety articles and disseminates safety educational materials to organizational units. You will Consults and maintains liaison with other safety and health personnel such as industrial hygienists to resolve occupational health hazards, civil engineers regarding alterations of buildings. You will work with National Safety Council specialists to become familiar with the latest safety techniques and protective devices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ensuring safety programs and facility inspections meet regulations to advise council through trend analysis and reports for planning.
