Marine Corps Heritage Foundation (MCHF) Special Assistant: Outreach Assistant in Quantico, Virginia

About the Job: Working at the Marine Corps History Division, the Outreach Assistant will help promote and develop engagement with the activities and historical resources held by the Division. The ideal candidate is proactive, and detail oriented as this role involves analyzing outreach opportunities, providing strategic recommendations, and coordinating logistical aspects of strategic communications and resource sharing. Location/Schedule: This is an in-person position located at 2044 Broadway Street, Marine Corps Base Quantico, 22134. This position is limited to 29 hours per week with a term not to exceed three years. Responsibilities: • Assist with the research, development, implementation, and editorial review of engagement campaigns, with special focus on social media, website review, donor relations, finding aids, and subject guides. • Assist in the review of digital presence and identify strengths, opportunities, and areas of needed improvement. • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders/teams to brainstorm, produce, implement, and/or analyze overarching campaigns to ensure strategic communication engagement campaigns. • Assist with public service efforts of the History Division through assisting with tours, and open houses, serving regular reading room and reference shifts to help researchers discover appropriate resources. • Accomplish all tasks appropriately assigned or requested. • Enhance description of finding aids by researching subjects, groups and persons to make informed reparative descriptions. • Assist in identification of USMC heritage organizations and assists in development of strategic communications. Requirements: Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in history, education, marketing, communications, or similar. Technological Skills: • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software. Required Knowledge and Skills: • Basic understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Creative mindset with the ability to produce visually appealing content. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Other: • Ability to quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment and perform multiple tasks effectively. Environment and Physical Conditions: The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear both in person and over devices. The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients. May be in situations which require conflict resolution. The position works in an office environment with artificial light and air. Occasionally are exposed to contaminants like dust.
