ManTech Defense Travel Coordinator in Quantico, Virginia

ManTech is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Quantico, VA to provide exceptional support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech in support of a USMC mission.

The Defense Travel Coordinator will provide support to government leaders in the Department of Defense. Administrative support tasks shall encompass a full range of moderate to complex administrative assignments involving use of judgement and discretion. The individual will also provide travel planning and management through the Defense Travel System (DTS).

General Responsibilities:

  • Stay current with Defense Travel regulations and help Civilian and Military with their travel logistics.

  • Create quick reference guides and maintain with known and reoccurring issues to streamline the processes for travelers.

  • Perform formal/classroom, ad hoc, over the shoulder, and remote training as needed to ensure travel logistics go smoothly.

  • Keep accurate records with real time status of travel logistics to include inbound, outbound, and personnel currently on travel.

  • Verify travelers book reservations correctly to include accurate estimates.

  • Verify travelers know per-diem regulations and requirements especially for first and last day of travel.

  • Ensure travelers receive respective approvals prior to travel.

  • Ensure travelers log their trip respectively in DTS and command tools.

  • Ensure travelers know security protocols prior to travel and have contact information for reporting suspicious activity or foreign contacts.

  • Endure travelers know respective country protocols prior to travel.

  • Work with travelers to ensure they submit the request for advanced payments properly (if applicable).

  • Ensure travelers know the rules and regulations for car rental requirements and have insurance information in the event they are involved in a crash.

  • Ensure travelers know the requirements for charging to their Government credit card.

  • Develop or maintain a travel record storage system to include a place for travelers to reference their plans, expenses, receipts, etc.

  • Help returning travelers input final expenses and attach receipts respectively to ensure reimbursement is processed accurately.

  • Support known and emergency travel, CONUS and OCONUS.

  • Brief leadership on the status of personnel on command travel to include, but not limited to, how many on travel, where they are, how many are departing, where they are going, and how many are returning.

  • Work location will be on Marine Corps Base, Quantico (MCB). Telework is by exception and not the norm.

  • Other duties as required

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must have a DoD TS/SCI Clearance without exceptions

  • Bachelors Degree and at least 2 years of administrative office support using Defense Travel System. Additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.

Desired Skills

  • Expertise using DTS

  • Expert knowledge of Joint Travel Regulations

  • Excellent communication skills, especially between Military and Civilian personnel

  • Ability to brief senior leadership

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Familiar with traveling for the Department of Defense
