U.S. Marine Corps Assistant Official Regional Lodging Manager NF4 (San Diego, CA)* in Quantico, Virginia

Responsibilities Serves as the Assistant Official Lodging Regional Manager assisting with program oversight of all PCS (Inns of the Corps) and TDY (Billeting) Official Lodging operations in a defined region. This position works closely and reports to the Regional Lodging Manager within the defined region. Provides leadership, support, and operational guidance to Lodging General Managers and Area General Managers. Assists with achieving compliance to applicable brand operating standards. Assists in the development, budgeting, capital planning, training, management, and oversight of all Official Lodging facilities when Regional is not available. Assists the Regional Program Manager in execution of programs, development of policy, enforcement of standards, and drives improvement in service delivery, condition and cleanliness, financial performance, employee satisfaction and retention, and market share. Assists with training of staff on new programming initiatives, and checks programs/facilities for compliance with policy, brand standards, operating and financial standards, marketing promotions, breakfast, and bar operations (where applicable) and training programs. Serves as a subject matter expert for lodging issues. Analyzes programming, status of facilities and equipment, manpower requirements, and financial results to offer recommendations to improve performance. Assists with improving work schedule productivity and costs versus budget. Receives and analyzes monthly 30-60-90 revenue forecasts. Receives and provides feedback to Regional Lodging Manager on monthly business recap. Assists with development of capital budgets. Provides input on Annual operating budgets. May serve on committees as assigned by Regional Lodging Manager. Ensures efficient and timely communication, with Regional Lodging Manager and up and down the organization as needed. Assists Regional Lodging Manager in conducting training on a variety of topics related to lodging operations, in subject matter relating to brand standards, service delivery, financial metrics, and established procedures. Maintains relationships with industry professionals. Assist Regional Lodging Manager in conducting property visits and walk-throughs to ensure standards are in place and providing support to the Lodging General Managers and the Lodging Area General Managers. Recognizes positive performance and helps build team cohesion. Recommends programmatic plans, alternative courses of action, policies, and future strategies to support goals and objectives. Assists Regional Lodging Manager in planning marketing strategies for promotional programming, which may include submitting written articles for publications such as newsletters, making personal contacts, and developing a plan of action with the MR Public Affairs Specialist, MR Marketing program managers, and other subject matter experts. Travels within the San Diego County to complete work assignments and conduct or attend conferences and meetings. May travel to Quantico to meet with Marine Corp Hospitality Services Leadership. May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical workweek and work hours. May prepare supporting documentation for presentations and proposals. May prepare correspondence, briefs, action documents, routing sheets, point papers and slide presentations for use by management officials. Maintain a positive relationship with all partners of MCHS. Assists with analyzing, evaluating and recommends solutions for customer complaints and satisfaction on the quality of services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Assists by monitoring programs on a regular basis and recommends corrective action through the Regional Lodging Manager to ensure compliance to brand standards and performance metrics. Assists in developing long-range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting to 20 lbs. may be required. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND Three years of experience in the commercial / government hotel industry that demonstrates knowledge of business practices, program and financial management, branded concepts and administrative procedures that are relative to the food and hospitality industry, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Ability to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of policies, procedures, and operational programs. Ability to travel is a requirement. Must demonstrate skills in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate strong business acumen. Eligible for incremental telework as determined by agency policy.
