This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Data Scientist to support the United States Forces Korea (USFK), Assistant Chief of Staff, J2 (ACofS, J2) JIOC-K in their mission to provide timely intelligence to Commander, USFK and Combined Forces Command, the combined battle staff, and war fighter component commanders!

The JIOC-K's efforts focus on detecting enemy threats, managing intelligence, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) activities, analyzing enemy actions and information to determine enemy's probable courses of action.

The overall analytic effort strengthens Defense Intelligence and provides relevant, timely, objective, and cogent all source Defense Intelligence to the Commander and other users, and transforming theater intelligence activities to better leverage the capabilities of the theater and global intelligence communities and safeguard United States personnel and interests within the Korea Theater of Operations (KTO). What you will do

  • Develops and projects data used to draw conclusions, and estimate probabilities based on historical and current collection data

  • Proposes advanced statistical/mathematical techniques and methodology that may permit identification and evaluation of alternatives, assists in model formulation or experimental test design

  • Maintains and manipulates intelligence information sharing databases, data formats/products, and shared directories

  • Works with analytic technical teams to develop methodologies to meet emerging requirements, test and validate predictive models, build prototypes, and perform data visualization

  • Facilitates integration of existing and new automated analytic tools into intelligence operations

  • Collaborates with mission owners on multi-disciplinary efforts that involve algorithmic solutions to all-source analytic challenges, gaps, and modernization problems

  • Ensures proposed solutions meet rigorous scientific standards and that analysts and users are aware of inherent biases, risks, and limitations

  • Research and develop operational concepts, mathematical or statistical methods, and data exploration, analysis, and synthesis for USFK production and content

  • Provides expertise in the research, development, and integration of mathematical, statistical, computational, logical, linguistic, cognitive, or social science methods encoded into algorithms, as well as substantive technical expertise on computational methods development or acquisition to support USFK intelligence production

  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience

  • Able to surge support during 2 exercises per year

  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, with the continued ability to obtain a Poly

Bonus points for...

  • Bachelors with 8 years of experience preferred

  • Recent applicable experience within the last 2 years also preferred

  • Skilled in data visualization and the use of graphical applications, including Microsoft Office (Power BI) and Tableau

  • Skilled in major data science languages, such as R and Python; managing and merging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL

  • Experience with statistical analysis and data mining algorithms

  • Experience with large data Multi-INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics

  • Familiarity with the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA)

  • Korea experience

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
