Available Title(s): 1325-YN_ADMINPRO - Extension Coordinator Specialist Business Title: Urban Extension Specialist Employee Type: Admin. Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Extension Coordinator Specialist is responsible for implementing key aspects of WSU Extension's role in a 2-state, multi-university USDA NIFA funded project related to building-integrated agriculture (BIA) including developing and delivering specialized BIA training programs to Extension professionals and urban policy development professionals. Duties include leadership of WSU's role in planning, conducting and reporting on a current-state BIA assessment; developing content for an invitational summit for professionals in urban planning, economic development, sustainability, architecture, construction and Extension practitioners in horticulture, community development and urban food systems; and developing BIA outreach and educational materials. This position collaborates with project personnel from partner universities, extension personnel, and other professionals across a variety of project related disciplines to ensure the program and activities meet guidelines/expectations/objectives/policies& procedures of WSU Extension and funder/project objectives under the direction of the WSU Extension faculty. This position is available for remote work. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related experience in the program specialty. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Prefer a Masters Degree with three (3) years related experience. Demonstrated teaching experience and evaluating community projects and experience in preparing educational materials for low literacy and diverse populations. • Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements. • Ability to travel overnight for conferences or meetings. • While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020 and https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090). • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards. Preferred Qualifications: • Master's degree in a relevant program discipline with three (3) years related experience. • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering educational content. • Experience developing situation and/or needs assessments. • Experience using a computer and software such as word processing, spreadsheets and email. • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels • of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing. • Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
