Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1 (Bilingual) Available Title(s): 1481-YN_ADMINPRO - Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1 Business Title: Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1 (Bilingual) Employee Type: Admin. Professional Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: This position has primary responsibility for day-to-day contact and advising of students, faculty, staff and parents. This position also serves as a resource for outreach efforts, as well as, Spanish speaking parents and students regarding financial aid and scholarships. Programmatic responsibilities may include verification, award adjustments, professional judgment, and needs analysis. Bilingual responsibilities will include supporting recruitment, retention & outreach efforts, specifically targeting Spanish speaking populations. Position duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of office vision, mission and values, as well as, institutional mission and goals. Required Qualifications: • Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Experience working with diverse populations. • Oral and written fluency in the English and Spanish languages. • Demonstrated cultural competency. • Demonstrated experience communicating complex ideas verbally and in writing, including experience with large group presentations. • Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends/evenings. • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment. • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with student services in a higher education setting. • Experience working in Financial Aid & Scholarships, Admissions, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, Registrar, Graduate School, Athletics, and/or Housing and Dining. • Experience working with PeopleSoft. • Master's Degree in a related field. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
