The Opportunity:

 

As the Data Control Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with projects related to data and fiscal matters on behalf of the Washington State University Foundation (WSUF) Gift Accounting team, reporting to the Gift Accounting Director. Working with Washington State University (WSU) policies and procedures and Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Standards guidelines, you will assist with developing, implementing, and overseeing the pledge entry, audit, and reminder system; managing stock/securities/cryptocurrency gifts; providing accurate and real-time data for Gift Accounting metrics and various statistics for reporting from the complex gift system; as well as assisting with the modification/reversal process for all necessary Gift Accounting team adjustments. You will have the opportunity to work directly with university units, donors, and the WSUF Finance team to ensure that all transactions are correct and completed in Workday and confirm that all ticketing system requests are completed.

 

In addition, you will assist with reviewing and auditing all holding accounts; assist with all incoming bankcard transactions and electronic funds transfer (EFT) transactions data uploads and validation; as well as working in tandem with the Gift Accounting Data Control Coordinator to monitor all incoming Automated Clearing Houses (ACH)/Wires to ensure all are receipted and deposited correctly. You must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and initiative in performing the described duties. Also, as a member of the Gift Accounting team, you are considered essential staff.

 

This position is located in the Town Centre Building in Pullman, Washington. The selected finalist will be eligible for a hybrid schedule, which requires them to be in the office three (3) days per week.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Two (2) years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.

 

• Ability to work independently, while still being a collaborative team player.

 

• Close attention to detail and accuracy when producing deliverables.

 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

• Strong customer service orientation.

 

• Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Excel.

 

• Ability to work the schedule of an essential staff member, which will include working the week between December 25th and January 1st.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience in gift management and/or fundraising.

 

• Experience working with a donor database.

 

• Experience working with Workday.

 

• Cash handling experience.

 

• Experience maintaining confidentiality while working with sensitive data.

 

• Strong time management skills.
