LifePoint Health Clinical Informatics in Pulaski, Tennessee

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) is a member of the Information Technology Team. He/She reports to the Director of Information Services and works collaboratively with the Chief Nursing officer and the Nursing Administrative Team. The CIS is responsible for operations related to the implementation, delivery, and maintenance of the electronic medical records (EMR) and systems associated with the EMR. The CIS assists with the development and implementation of education associated with clinical use of the EMR for all disciplines who use the EMR. The CIS works with clinical departments to ensure clinical applications support quality care and regulatory compliance and serves as a liaison between clinical users and the Information Technology Department to ensure clear and effective communication related to user needs and system capabilities. The CIS is responsible for facilitating the build of new EMR applications as they are needed or requested. He/She serves as the Meaningful Use Coordinator for the facility and is responsible for coordinating data collection for reporting as well as oversight of the MU committee functions and structure. The CIS must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients, and families. He/She works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered.

Consulting and collaborating with other nurse leaders to enhance the performance of clinical care providers.

Must possess basic computer skills and be flexible and willing to learn a variety of computer systems.

Providing clinical nurses, physicians, patients, and family education related to computer modalities, functions, capabilities etc as indicated.

The ability and willingness to follow established Standards of Performance.

Designs screens, forms, data flow and processes with clinical relevance to automate clinical process and documentation of patient status and care provided.

Determines clinical functions which are suitable for computer application consistent with patient-centered care, professional standards of clinical practice, and user satisfaction.

Coordinates the identification and collection of data needed to improve patient outcomes and meet regulatory requirements.

Required Skills Must possess strong computer skills and can work with multiple computer systems Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English Must be able to operate standard patient care equipment for services provided.

Minimum Work Experience Minimum of 2 years informatics technology experience with knowledge of patient care flow and documentation.

Minimum Education Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Required Licenses [/Tennessee, United States/] /Registered Nurse/ Current and active Registered Nurse license in the state of Tennessee.
