Sr. Accountant

General Responsibilities

The Sr. Accountant compiles and analyzes financial information and client contracts to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

General Responsibilities:
• Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules. • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
• Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheets, profit, and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
• Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions before settlement.
• Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
• Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
• Devices and implements a system for general accounting.
• Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
• Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
• Executes all key controls including but not limited to SOX controls for roles as per assigned roles within established procedures and approved delegation of authority.
• Responds to and reviews all escalations or deviations that may be brought to his or her attention.
• Reports any exceptions to established internal controls and documents any violations to procedures following the required channels of command.
 

 

Performs duties through methods and actions that are consistently ethical and in total compliance with the laws, applicable regulations, Code of Ethics, corporate policies and guidelines and rules of conduct. Completes corporate trainings and certifications intended for the detection and prevention of money laundering related activities and fraud, insider training and conflict of interest policies and procedures, as applicable.

 

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
• Two years of experience in the full accounting cycle, with demonstrated experience in the analysis and interpretation of client contracts, to implement accounting processes.
• Advanced experience in MS Office Excel (Vlookup, Pivotable, etc).
 

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

Computer Skills:
Knowledge of one or more of the following software: MS Office, Accounting Presentations, Spreadsheets, Internal Business software (ERP or SAP), and other related software.

Finance & Accounting Skills:
Knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws, regulations and practices, financial markets, financial analysis, and reporting of financial data.
Prepares and directs the preparation of audits, financial statements, and varied fiscal reports. Performs internal audits of accounts payable, payroll distribution, fixed assets, and cash.
May make correcting journal entries in assigned areas.
Maintains the various ledger accounts including reconciliation of the general ledger, revenue accounts, expenditures, and cash balances.
Reviews accounting documents to ensure the accuracy of information and calculations and makes or directs correcting entries.
Prepares, maintains control, and is responsible for subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts.
Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures. Responsible for closing books at year-end upon completion of the annual audit.

Additional Information

Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm 

Available to work extended hours, weekends and/or holidays as needed and the availability to travel as required supporting projects in the region.
