  • Salary Range: $78,900 - $94,680 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.) .

Project Overview:

The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safety destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the department of Defense to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The PCAPP plant began the operations and munition destruction phase as of September 2016.

Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.

Job Summary:

The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is looking for a Hazardous Waste Shipper at the Pueblo, CO location. This position will report to the Waste Technician Superintendent at the PCAPP project. The Hazardous Waste Shipper is responsible for providing support to the Waste Management Department to ensure all waste shipments are completed in accordance with local, State, and Federal regulations.

This PCAPP position falls under the scope of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act of 1965 (SCA). The SCA requires PCAPP to provide employees with benefits and wages no less than the amounts the Department of Labor has established for the location and classification in which the employee will be working.

Major Responsibilities:

General

  • Conducts basic Startup Specialist duties of installation configuration validation and work package development.

Work Planning & Packaging

  • Participates in the planning and scheduling of CSU activities for assigned areas of responsibility and/or assists more senior Startup Specialists with planning CSU activities and methods.

  • Participates in the preparation of Startup Work Packages and Test Work Packages for assigned areas of responsibility and/or assists more senior Startup Specialists with preparation of Startup Work Packages and Test Work Packages.

Turnover Coordination

  • Participates with Construction in CSU turnover walkdowns for assigned areas of responsibility. Interfaces with the Field Engineer, as required, to support component/system turnover.

  • Provides assistance with completion of Inventory Turnover Rates (ITRs) in a timely manner and ensures submitted into the completions system.

Material Management and Quantities

  • Drafts contract change notices and amendments, extra work orders, and back charge notices, as assigned.

  • Tracks quantities on quantity tracking systems or other database systems, as required.

Quality Control

  • Assists with walkdowns to validate that the system configuration is in accordance with the design.

  • Monitors testing of equipment to assure conformance with specifications and compliance with test procedures.

Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H)

  • Participates in the identification and elevation of ESUH issues in the field and is a visible “walk the talk” leader in good ES&H practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Environmental, Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university within the past 12 months.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Ability to obtain a 24-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the Depot.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in the preparation of hazardous material/hazardous waste shipments and shipping documents in compliance with EPA and DOT.

  • Knowledgeable of waste acceptance criteria for treatment, storage, and/or disposal facilities.
