Intermountain Health Clinical Nutrition Manager in Provo, Utah

Job Description:

The Clinical Nutrition Manager is responsible for the operation, leadership, and management of clinical nutrition related services across multiple facilities. This position uses critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to deliver high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy services and cost-effective patient care. The Clinical Nutrition Manager works closely with facility management and clinical partners to ensure departmental focus and vision is aligned with local and system objectives.

Posting Details

  • Shift: Monday-Friday. Primarily onsite (some remote work available)

  • This role covers multiple hospitals and outpatient clinics. ​

Job Essentials

  • Provides value-based leadership to establish a high functioning clinical nutrition team across multiple facilities. Operates in an accountable environment.

  • Collaborates with culinary services management to facilitate seamless integration of the nutrition care process.

  • Facilitates human resource functions (e.g., hiring, staffing, training, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, constructive discipline, termination).

  • Mentors and supports caregivers to ensure all team members understand their roles and accountabilities. Identifies continuing education opportunities to promote professional growth and job satisfaction.

  • Directs the provision of medical nutrition therapy and the nutrition care process in accordance with established system policies and procedures, organization's vision and values, and regulatory requirements.

  • Develops and implements department strategic plans, initiatives, and goals in alignment with system strategy to improve efficiency and provide quality Medical Nutrition Therapy.

  • In conjunction with the System-level Directors, establishes financial objectives by assisting in budget planning, forecasting, revenue, and measuring productivity while maintaining a viable financial status.

  • Initiates and collaborates on research and continuous quality improvement projects. Integrates results into evidence-based practice.

  • Participates as an active member of the Intermountain Clinical Nutrition Operations Council and other Intermountain teams in standardizing nutrition care.

  • Accepts and carries out system-level assignments on behalf of Nutrition Services Shared Service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or nutrition related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  • Dietitian licensure or certification as determined by the state licensing board for the state of the employee's primary work location (obtained within 2 months of hire).

  • Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

  • Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) program.

  • Five years of clinical nutrition experience.

  • Knowledge of current medical nutrition therapy.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications.

  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • For Infant Feeding Preparation Room CNM: 2 years of infant and pediatric clinical nutrition experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition, management, or another related field. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  • Specialty certification such as CDE, CSP, CSR, CNSC, etc.

  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or other related professional associations or organizations.

  • Demonstrated research and refereed publications credit.

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.

Operate computers and other equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

See and read computer monitors and documents.

Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$37.98 - $58.61
