Brown University Student Data Analyst in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The School of Engineering at Brown University has a new and exciting opportunity to hire a Student Data Analyst.

This Data Analyst is responsible for providing data collection, organization, analysis, and reporting for the Student Affairs group of the School of Engineering (SoE). This position ensures data integrity for federal and other regulatory reporting purposes while providing valuable insights to support data-driven decision-making processes. The Data Analyst is responsible for: providing dashboard statistics used by Deans, Chairs, and other offices; working with fellow data analysts across the University to better coordinate data collection and external reporting demands, and working to automate frequently needed reports and analyses. The incumbent will be responsible to support all SoE data needs including, faculty, course instruction, etc.

The successful candidate, as a minimum, should have the following background:

Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master's Degree preferred.

Job Competencies

Proficiency in data retrieval using reporting tools such as Cognos or demonstrated ability to master such tools.

Programing skills in python, R, or similar strongly preferred.

Highly developed quantitative skills in data analysis; statistical training desirable.

Proficiency at presenting information, and the ability to articulate complex statistical issues to non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to manage and train employees is preferred

Strong computer skills including familiarity with database design practices, desktop reporting tools and information display tools.

Aptitude for broad, critical thinking and high-level problem solving.

Ability to work with flexibility and tact across broad constituencies.

Strong management and project development skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, run meetings, organize committees, and work closely with peers.

Attention to detail, judgment, and discretion.

Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.
