As part of the Data Management Lab (DML) department, we're responsible for supporting the development, enablement, and implementation of data management best practices that enable the delivery of “ready-to-use” data.

What’s the role?

A Senior Data Management Professional (DMP) is a key role within our organization responsible for redefining and optimizing the metadata our clients rely on. They act as proactive technical leaders by setting the strategy in achieving quality and consistency, and delivering scalable governance across Bloomberg Data. Beyond governing data and being problem solvers, they are expected to transform the responsibilities of the team and scale the impact beyond what's possible today.

The role in the Data Inventory and Integration team covers all metadata aspects of Bloomberg data. Being responsible for the data connectivity across the company touching on governance of entities, relationships, aliases and data fields. The team is a critical key in ensuring the stability and growth of the company which relies on all instances and metadata fields to operate almost all products.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Analyze and propose improvements to the governance processes and build solutions to enact those changes

  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Data to build an innovative system for managing all metadata

  • Perform requirements gathering, process/system analysis, integration, and data profiling

  • Ensure the program’s alignment to enterprise data standards for quality, metadata capture, linkage, reference data, etc

  • Incorporate machine learning approaches and statistical methods to find issues, drive hydration, and increase connectivity of data

  • Use data visualization and analysis skills to proactively manage metadata across all entities, relationships, and fields

  • Balance the best of technical and product knowledge to craft solutions for customers

  • Contribute to the development of peer-reviewed papers, conference presentations, panels, standards boards, and other external industry participation opportunities

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DMP's and contribute to their professional development

You’ll need to have:

  • A BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant Data Technology field, or equivalent professional work experience

  • 4+ years experience using technical skills such as programming, data modeling, and statistical methods to solve problems

  • Deep understanding and experience in Master Data Management (MDM) or Market Data Security Master Management

  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to tasks accordingly

  • Collaboration skills to work across departments and with global teams

  • Demonstrated capability in data management, data processing, data analysis, and associated tools and technologies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders

We’d love to see:

  • Knowledge of Graphing Technologies and ontology languages and standards such as OWL, RDF, SKOS, and SHACL

  • Understanding of large-scale, distributed, end-to-end systems

  • Exposure to the Bloomberg Terminal and/or Enterprise Data products

  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and project management best practices

  • Understanding of Data Governance and Data Management, supported by industry certifications (e.g. DAMA CDMP, DCAM, etc.)

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in ontology engineering, knowledge representation, and semantic technologies

  • Experience with collaborative design platforms, such as MIRO and FIGMA

Salary Range: 110,000 - 170,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
