Associate Director, Worldwide Oncology Communications, Corporate Affairs

The Associate Director will be an integral member of the Worldwide Oncology Communications Team leading development and implementation of strategic communications in support of the company’s oncology franchise for all worldwide markets.

The role requires a strong communications professional who demonstrates sound business judgment, and can work closely with senior leaders in various parts of the organization to help drive effective internal and external communications.

Must possess the ability to think strategically and execute tactically and demonstrate a strong understanding of the science and business behind

the oncology business, pipeline and patient landscape.

The position will report to the Director, WW Hematology and Oncology Communications and will be located in Princeton Pike, NJ and follow the company’s policy of Flexible Ways of Working with onsite presence 50% over a two-week period.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with commercial and R&D leaders across oncology therapeutic areas and matrix teams to drive effective communications and initiatives aligned with the business and support the company’s corporate strategic messages. This will include the ability to flex across work in our hematology team as needed.

  • Support development and execution of broad strategy, issues management counsel, PR plans, materials, programs and internal communications.

  • Drive cross franchise social media strategy to drive impactful results through a strong understanding and expertise in developing strategic social media, thought leadership and creative content campaigns.

  • Collaborate with and develop materials for International Corporate Affairs colleagues to help ensure successful efforts to communicate brand and therapeutic area milestones and enhance communication flow between WW and local

  • Media relations interest and understanding to help support media strategy and interactions for their areas of responsibility.

  • Manage an external PR agency for specific projects including budget management specific to your projects.

  • This role will not have any direct reports; however, the successful candidate will be able to manage cross-functional teams and working effectively in a highly matrixed organization.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be a self-motivated leader with a track record of setting, driving and delivering against integrated communications strategies.

  • S/he will have expertise in strategic planning, issues management, internal and external communications

  • S/he must be able to collaborate with business leaders and teams to develop integrated communications strategies and have demonstrated ability to successfully lead and influence others. Finally, this individual will have a strong grasp of storytelling that can engage and energize employees and support the company’s business objectives.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in the healthcare or related industry with a focus on internal and external communications (executive communications or marketing is preferred).

  • Proven ability to drive strategic communicationinitiatives aligned with broader companyobjectives; and be able to quickly learnthe business and operate within a complex, fast paced and changing environment.

  • Proven understanding and expertise in developing social media, thought leadership and creative content campaigns and solid understanding of the changing global media environment and the role of digital media in reaching key audiences.

  • Solid commercial focus and business acumen,including an understanding of how policy,advocacy, pricing and access work together to implement integrated strategies.

  • Solid understanding of medicine and scientific approaches and/or significant in the area of the science behind medicines is critical.

  • Solid understanding of the changing global media environment and the role of digital media in reaching key audiences.

  • Record of success and experience in leading and advising senior and executive level employees and teams.

  • A strong understanding of business critical priorities, and ability to apply understanding of market dynamics into strategy.

  • Creative and versatile professional with experience in the development and implementation of integrated communications.

  • Excellent writing skills (i.e., ability to produce clear, compelling, motivating communications quickly).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to successfully work in a matrix organization, lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex projects.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with a sense of urgency.

  • Proficiency with web-based, digital communications and social media tools.

  • A Bachelor's degree.
