The Associate Dean is a pastor to the university community, assisting the Dean in the leading of weekly Christian services in the Chapel, leading the weekly Hallelujah student church service, and the weekly Hour of Power service focused on staff. The Associate Dean is also responsible for conceiving of and implementing other programs of interest to the University community. The Associate Dean provides pastoral care to any who ask for it, including officiating at weddings and memorial services. The Associate Dean supervises the seminary intern(s). The Associate Dean partners with other chaplains on the ORL staff and with the affiliated chaplains in the providing of spiritual care to the University. The Associate Dean represents the University in off-campus organizations and represents the ORL on a variety of University committees. The Associate Dean supervises two ORL staff -- the program assistant and the CJL Administrator.
ResponsibilitiesLeading Christian worship (Sunday Chapel services, Hallelujah!, and Hour of Power)
Creating programming of interest to the University community (speakers, trips, conferences, panels, etc.)
Providing pastoral care to the University community
Representing the Office of Religious Life on campus and off-campus committees, meetings and organizations
Convening the monthly meeting and having primary relationships with the Affiliated Chaplains
Supervising the work of the CJL Administrator and Program Assistant
Supervising the seminary intern(s)
QualificationsMaster of Divinity or other pre-ordination degree, ordination in a Christian denomination and ability to officiate at sacraments, excellent communication skills (written and oral), superior skills in diplomacy and the maintaining of confidentiality
Additional training and experience in team management, mental health matters, crisis response, and general pastoral care.
