Responsibilities
Summary:
The Human Resources team here at Berry Global is a core group of professionals who help maintain employment along with handling all employee related tasks. The individual holding this position is responsible for performing HR related duties at the plant located in Princeton, Indiana. The HR Generalist will work closely with the Human Resources Manager in supporting HR functions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action, employment law compliance, payroll, salary administration, and benefits. The individual will serve as a contact for general human resources questions, benefits issues, resolution of payroll discrepancies and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, employee relations and retention, and labor relations.
Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of action.
Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
Assists with the recruiting, interviewing, and on-boarding processes; utilizes the Recruiting Management System (RMS).
Facilitates retention of new hires.
Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
Assists with maintaining, updating, and ensuring the accuracy of the information in the HRIS (Infinium) system.
Keeps records of hourly attendance and issues performance reports;
Maintains the Learning Management System (LMS)
Protects the integrity of the HR Department and the organization by keeping information confidential
Assists with the management of the disability and leave of absence processes with employees for FMLA, STD and LTD while ensuring adherence to ADA and HIPAA.
Serves as a point of contact for specific employee questions about such topics as benefits, 401k, payroll, and onboarding
Files and maintains employee files
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and participating in professional organizations.
Completes special projects as established by the Human Resources Manager by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and developing and organizing information and fulfilling transactions.
Audits employment related documents for accuracy and compliance
Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and unemployment claims
Builds relationships with staff at all levels of the organization
Completes special projects as established by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and developing and organizing information and fulfilling transactions
Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated Human Resources experience is strongly preferred
PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred
Exceptional communication skills and must be attentive to detail
Extensive knowledge of employment law is required, along with proven ability to apply that knowledge.
Proven skills: Performance Management, Training Management, Resolving Conflict
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality, have a strong work ethic, and be self-motivated
Strong working knowledge and experience using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
Valid driver’s license required.
